Testimonials (both quotes refer to the anaglyph version only)

"This 3D version of Carnival of Souls is very, very cool! This was an incredible project for one person to take on and you've done an amazing job of adding very convincing 3D to the movie. This particular film was the perfect choice because of the unusual photography and bizarre settings which are really enhanced by the addition of depth. Watching it is a whole new experience. I couldn't be more impressed with your work. Thanks for making this available.....

"I have just finished watching your 3D version of "Carnival of Souls". Firstly may I congratulate you on what must have been a most difficult and time consuming endeavour. Despite the many issues you stated on your website that the film may have in viewing, i found it a very good match, smooth to watch and very naturalistic and surrealistic at the same time (in keeping with the film's feel). I should explain that I have seen every version of this film to date. The short cut, director's cut, Criterion collection version, laserdisc edition and colorized version. I have read just about everything ever written about it and have the comic, soundtrack, posters etc. Your film, and it is your film, because it is your interpretation of it, stands up very well next to the original. I imagine that if Herk Harvey or William Castle had had the technology and the money in the 1960s they would have thought of 3D too.....

Depth Map Samples from House on Haunted Hill 3D....

Unfortunately, I no longer have 100% feedback on eBay due to the fact that someone bought the side by side version without reading the ad properly. He wrongly thought that the movie would play on a 3D Blu-ray player and 3D TV system. When he realised that he had made a mistake, he tried to blame me, saying the ad was misleading and then proceeded to give me negative feedback.....

100% positive feedback on eBay.......NOT!

Latest Anaglyph images from Carnival of Souls 3D

Please note: These examples are in the inferior anaglyph format which displays some ghosting artifacts. The final version is in the superior side by side format which is better quality and should display no ghosting when viewed properly on a DLP, or other, 3D capable display.

Carnival of Souls 3D Trailer (3D Conversion)

This test trailer uses the original trailer's audio but I have replaced the video with video from the 3D conversion which is still a work in progress.

UPDATE 23/09/10 : The final scene of the whole movie has been completed but I am currently re-doing several scenes from the first half of the movie. I'm also adding more contrast to the depth maps and adding 5% more parallax to each scene. In doing this, the 3D depth is improved and looks closer to true stereoscopic content now. Please visit my "Release date information" page for technical specifications about the film and more info about it's availability.

Examples of some of the depth maps created for the car/garage sequence

Carnival of Souls 3D conversion anaglyph thumbnail sequence

This 13 second long scene of Mary escaping from her garage nightmare took several hours to convert to 3D. After a background template was created, the moving objects were individually rotoscoped and shaded, in order to create the final animated depth map that would give the 3D effect. It's a very laborious process but the final results make it all worthwile.

This is the anaglyph version from the original side by side conversion.
